One of the wedding venues we’ve photographed at the most in the last decade is Cornerstone Sonoma.  It’s an absolute treat for the eyes and the soul.  Over the years we’ve seen several of the installations come and go and not too long ago, they added the Sunset Magazine test gardens to the property and in doing so, catapulted Cornerstone Sonoma into wedding venue super-stardom.

Needless to say, anytime we get an inquiry and a booking for Cornerstone we get super excited.  When we received Lilly + Harry’s inquiry it just so happened that we were going to be in NorCal a couple weeks later shooting an engagement session for one of our other upcoming Cornerstone couples.  So just like we always try to do when we shoot up north, we killed two birds with one stone and made arrangements to meet with them after shooting the session….which meant we ended up meeting them at a pub near their house at around 10pm, haha!  Hey, anything for our couples, right?  #dedication

Anyway, we chatted about wedding stuff, shared some stories, shared some laughs, and the rest is history!  Fast forward to the wedding.  The week leading up to the wedding was cloudy and rainy and there was a serious bad weather threat for the day of the wedding.  The day before the wedding as we drove over the Golden Gate Bridge on our way to our hotel, it was dumping rain…I mean DUMPING BUCKETS, and they proceeded to make the last-minute call and do the rainy day backup plan, and in this case that meant having the ceremony inside the barn where they usually hold the reception….and they moved the cocktail hour and reception over to the Tyge Williams Cellars building across the parking lot.  Of course, wouldn’t you know it…the day of the wedding was clear and sunny, haha!   The weather in Sonoma in April is like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get!

This is the Tyge Williams Cellars building where the cocktail hour and reception moved to.  A couple years ago we had seen this building in it’s early stages when it was being framed.  At the time we didn’t know what it was going to be, but now that it’s finished we love the vibe!  Showing off that crisp white board and batten siding, it definitely has that modern farmhouse look….very Magnolia, right?  🙂
