Cornerstone Sonoma Wedding – Tyge Williams Cellars Reception

One of the wedding venues we’ve photographed at the most in the last decade is Cornerstone Sonoma. It’s an absolute treat for the eyes and the soul. Over the years we’ve seen several of the installations come and go and not too long ago, they added the Sunset Magazine test gardens to the property and in doing so, catapulted Cornerstone Sonoma into wedding venue super-stardom.

Needless to say, anytime we get an inquiry and a booking for Cornerstone we get super excited. When we received Lilly + Harry’s inquiry it just so happened that we were going to be in NorCal a couple weeks later shooting an engagement session for one of our other upcoming Cornerstone couples. So just like we always try to do when we shoot up north, we killed two birds with one stone and made arrangements to meet with them after shooting the session….which meant we ended up meeting them at a pub near their house at around 10pm, haha! Hey, anything for our couples, right? #dedication

Anyway, we chatted about wedding stuff, shared some stories, shared some laughs, and the rest is history! Fast forward to the wedding. The week leading up to the wedding was cloudy and rainy and there was a serious bad weather threat for the day of the wedding. The day before the wedding as we drove over the Golden Gate Bridge on our way to our hotel, it was dumping rain…I mean DUMPING BUCKETS, and they proceeded to make the last-minute call and do the rainy day backup plan, and in this case that meant having the ceremony inside the barn where they usually hold the reception….and they moved the cocktail hour and reception over to the Tyge Williams Cellars building across the parking lot. Of course, wouldn’t you know it…the day of the wedding was clear and sunny, haha! The weather in Sonoma in April is like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get!

This is the Tyge Williams Cellars building where the cocktail hour and reception moved to. A couple years ago we had seen this building in it’s early stages when it was being framed. At the time we didn’t know what it was going to be, but now that it’s finished we love the vibe! Showing off that crisp white board and batten siding, it definitely has that modern farmhouse look….very Magnolia, right? 🙂

Melissa + Kevin’s Carmel Mountain Ranch Estate Wedding in San Diego

Remember Melissa + Kevin’s engagement session from the previous post? Well looky looky…now you get to see their wedding photos! And where did their wedding take place? None other than Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club/Carmel Mountain Ranch Estate, one of our favorite San Diego wedding venues. While we’ve shot at many venues multiple times, there are only a handful of wedding venues that we’ve shot at multiple multiple multiple multiple times, and Carmel Mountain Ranch Estate is one of them and it’s great to be so familiar with this great San Diego venue.

As with most of the weddings at Carmel Mountain Ranch Estate, the guys were hanging out in the board room just relaxing and enjoying the moments before things got down to business. Kevin is a big time fishing guy. In fact, right after we were finished shooting their engagement session, he was hitting the road with his buddies for an early morning deep sea fishing trip. So it was only fitting that Melissa gifted him a lifetime fishing license as a pre-wedding gift!

The ladies locker room/getting room downstairs has been revamped this past year and opens up a lot of space for the ladies and all their ~~junk~~….I mean, necessities, haha! It’s definitely spacious with a lot of mirrored real estate. Once the ladies were ready, we got right into photos and things were off to a great start!

The ceremony layout was simple but with all the greenery surrounding the space, you really don’t need much at all. One cool detail in particular was their entry sign…sort of an art-deco style design, personalized for their wedding. Super cool!

Since Melissa & Kevin didn’t do a first look before the ceremony, we used the time following the ceremony to do their combined bridal party shots as well as the shots of them together. Again, it’s great to be so familiar with the venue, and it helps us to get through a lot of awesome photos in a short amount of time. We love to hit the Italian Cypress trees, especially when the light is juuuust right. Then combined with a few other spots we’re able to give our couples a great set of images with the cool, casual and classic style we’re known for. The ballroom at Carmel Mountain Ranch Estate another great feature of the venue. Nice and bright in the day and early evening, and the beauty continues into the night with some uplights.

Melissa + Kevin – San Diego Engagement Photos With A Beach Sunset

San Diego is a great city for engagement photos. There are so many great spots, from rustic to modern to historic to beach…you can have it all in San Diego! Melissa and Kevin wanted to go with Balboa Park and the beach, a classic combination that looks good on everybody 🙂

From time to time we get a couple who joke about being terrible in front of the camera but then we get started and people just end up being naturals! Between our couples being themselves and having a good time with it and us bringing a little humor and some direction, it’s definitely a recipe for success.

SoCal Boho Chic Wedding at The Condors Nest Ranch Part 2

And we’re back! This is finally Part 2 from Brit & Matt’s awesome wedding at the Condor’s Nest Ranch. If you missed Part 1 you can click over and see it here. Part 2 starts off at one of our favorite spots at the ranch….the greenhouse. We can remember back when we first started shooting weddings at Condor’s Nest and it’s so cool to see all the new vegetation that has grown around the greenhouse. It makes it that much more intimate and when you add that evening light peeking through the vintage windows. Wow. We love it.

What do you think about that lacy dress Brit is wearing? The long sleeves were so unexpected, but so perfect.

Sunsets at Condor’s Nest Ranch are one of our favorite things to be a part of. When the sun touches down behind those hills it doesn’t matter if you’ve got a bunch of dramatic clouds or if the sky is clear as a bell. The sunsets are beautiful! I mean….just look at these photos!

There’s so much great ambient light around this Southern California ranch wedding venue, and the reflection of the pool gives the space a special touch.

We also love the new barn doors so much we had to take advantage of them for an awesome end of the night photo, and go out with a bang 🙂
